ONE PART MOLD MAKING — MAKE SPACE | Workshop & Classroom
This crash course into mold-making with Herrick Smith will set students up with the knowledge to start their mold making journey off right! Attendees will sculpt a simple form out of plasticine clay and learn to mix & pour plaster to create a one-part mold. All supplies are provided, and reading material will be emailed to students before class to show up prepared and with realistic expectations.
NCECA 2026 Collaboration with Martha Grover
Martha and I will be collaborating again at NCECA in Detroit as demonstrating Artists on behalf of Skutt Kilns at their booth in the expo Hall.
We look forward to seeing folks as they stop by!
June 2026 Firing of the St. Augagama!
The next firing of the St. Augagama will be June 6-11 2026.
Loading will take the first 2 days and the firing is projected to take 4 days including pre-heat with an additional day for down-firing.
The unload will be Saturday 6/20/25 at 8am.
During the cooling week we have several activities available including: Kayaking, Fishing, Day-Trips, Historical Tours, and More!

Visiting Artist Workshop
In this 2-day hands-on workshop, participants made and assembled sectional pieces of their own with direct instruction and examples.
Woodfire NC 2025
I’m honored to have been included in this immersive event in Star, North Carolina from May 22-25, 2025. It was an incredible opportunity to connect with artists and enthusiasts from around the world, all united by our passion for woodfiring.
NCECA 2025 Collaboration
Last year I floated the idea of scaling-up a piece by Martha Grover. We planned together, exchanged sketches, workshopped ideas, and decided to go for it. I made a practice piece to get our minds around the form (thank goodness) and we made more edits. This is the result. A 54" tulipiere #madeonaskutt with 140 pounds of "Big White" from Laguna Clay. Additionally, the piece is designed to be taken apart in removable sections less than 27" tall and fired in a Skutt Kiln #firedinaskutt.
